Music pulsing, she felt as if her heart would beat right out of her chest. The lights flashed and strobed in blinding hues, streaming across white walls and sequent clothes. And there was a distinct mixture of cheap perfumes, aftershaves, and sweat clinging to the air that had her wishing she'd never have to step out there, ever, in her lifetime. Tenten could live without the press of bodies and lack of personal space. Unfortunately, her target held other plans.

Not that Uchiha Sasuke was really a target of interest. On the contrary. In the grand scheme of things, she was doing little more than babysitting a prince who would never hold claim to the crown. When the time was right, the reigns to the kingdom would belong to Itachi. And the younger of the brothers would simply be left to his own devices; to choose to stay on the road that was mapped out for him or leave to walk his own path in life. But then, when you're one of two heirs to a multi-million dollar family company, maybe it's necessary to have a body guard nonetheless.

"Are you ever going to enjoy yourself, for once?" Drawing her attention away from the glass she had been nursing all night, Tenten shifted her dark eyes to the young man beside her. Sleek and sophisticated in dress and mannerisms, there was a story and a history written in the way he moved and conducted himself as he slid into the seat with practiced ease. An air of confidence that did little justice to the muscles and skills learned in his sixteen years of life.

And the young woman was left to wonder why she was even necessary. "I'm enjoying watching those girls make fools of themselves trying to get your attention."

At that, her glance shifted to the spot just over his shoulder in a straight-line view of to a girl just on the other side of the counter. Blond. Tall. Possibly his type if he had a mind to have one outside of dangerous. Certainly, she was a viper among corn-snakes who seemed to watch them both with intentful eyes while she toyed with her drink. Like a predator studying their prey.

Taking a sip of her drink, Tenten reached around the man in a rather intimate gesture and gathered up a few cashews from the nut bowl just on the other side of him. "Besides, fun is for social calls. This is business."

"Business is over for the night. Meeting's done and no one's biting." And with that, he snatched up a few nuts for himself from her palm, tapping the counter with authority to call for another drink for the both of them.

She could only scoff and smirk with amusement in response. "I'm pretty sure she wants a little nibble at something."

A curious tilt of his head brought dark, familiar - searching - eyes into view. And with a raise of her glass, Tenten directed his attention to the blond in the corner. Which was met with a devious wave to the both of them from the far end of the counter. A bold girl, that one. She could certainly be interesting enough to catch his attention if Sasuke was in the mind to have company for the night. But he didn't - he never did - the young woman knew. And so the gesture was met with a knowing smirk and a nod of greeting in turn, the only prize this mystery girl would get for her troubles and advances.

"Another heart broken," she lamented with a sigh. And with a quiet little laugh, the guard gently prodded at his side with a nimble finger. "You're leaving quite the trail of them tonight."

"There's only one person worth my time, tonight. And I'm already tolerating her." Shifting her gaze away from the floor of mashing and melting bodies, she angled her eyes up, watching and reading him from the corners. Well, he certainly seemed sincere. But when you were raised to rely on the principle of deception and death to survive, sometimes truths were a little fuzzy.

Brushing the thought off with a wave of her hand, Tenten sighed. "Three's a crowd anyways." And finished the last of her drink in one large gulp, setting it down with new-found determination. "So. You said something about enjoying myself, tonight?"

It seemed like nothing more than a trick of the light, at first. Hues of red, blue, green, and yellow beams streaked and strobed across the club in such a way that it was hard to see much of anything in the dim lighting. Even when the DJ both was illuminated during the crest and climax of a song, there wasn't much of an improvement, though it was still the best condition that could be managed as far as regaining some semblance of sight. But as he leaned forward in his stool, his lips found a spot of lamplight that made her her doubts clear. And though he tried to gesture for her to go on ahead into the crowd and start the party before him, Tenten was having none of that.

Quick as lightning and firm with her grip, the young woman took a hold of his wrist and very intently pulled him from his seat towards the dance floor, the beat of the music nearly matching the thump of her own racing heart. And while she knew it would never be this easy and simple to force him to engage in things he disliked, the lack of resistance and the ease in his steps told her that Sasuke was at least indulging the girl's whims. Feeling his fingers brush along her hip and return the hold of Tenten's hand, the young guard decided that she could accept for indulgence.
