ficlets100.
Dedicated to: The development of the Chidori and all those who contributed in perfecting itthat includes you too, Obito ;w;
It was like holding a bolt of lightning in her hand. Which was essentially what she was doing, using both the Fire and Earth properties of her chakra to create a shielding barrier around the kunoichi's arms. Only then could Mei take hold of the Jounin's fist in hopes of stopping or at least deflecting the attack before it hit. Only then, for those precious few seconds, did she feel what it was like each and every time Kakashi used Chidori.
Almost an instant later, the feeling passed, replaced by the jolting pain of the strike.
With the force of a thousand or so volts of energy behind the attack, the crackling ball of artificial lightning ate through her shield. Pressed forward with the combined momentum of his speed and strength, creating shallow trenches in the ground where the young woman's feet tried to find purchase in the crumbling dirt. But to no avail. His level of concentration and determination was unyielding, almost to a point of recklessness. And the impact was similarly impressive if not exceedingly so. Her efforts to dis-spell it was simply not enough, as was apparent in the growing prickle of sensation Mei felt against her palms. To a point where her own nerves began to shake from the effort before everything disappeared in a white flash of searing pain.
Then again, she supposed as the world around her fell away to nothingness -- as her own limbs and nerves seemed melted away into a weightless and senseless existence -- Hatake Kakashi was called a prodigal genius for a reason.

Kakashi's not exactly my strongest character, but I will try my best! In delving into Mei's history, though, there will be a bit of younger angst!monstar at least?
