usedgust, for being charming and inspirational enough to get me to write for a game/comm I'm not even in. ♥
Very rarely did she find it within herself and the situation to lose her temper. Years of martial arts training and studying under its many disciplines had given the young mutant the experience to control such things. Her time under Jiraiya's tutelage only strengthened that patience. And on most occasions, that level of resistance held solid. On most occasions. As was true with most aspects of life, there were some circumstances -- some triggers -- that bypassed any and all self-imposed limitations. Breaking the heart of a close friend was one of them.
It was what could only be described as a rampage... in her own fashion. Whereas others would have been fuming, destructive, and all too obvious about their anger, Tenten's way was much more dangerous. There was a quickness to her step and an intent in reaching her destination. But there was no outward show of the girl's sour and irate disposition other than the downward furrow of her immaculate brows. Even the straight line of her lips were unmarred by the press of restraint or the subtle clench of her jaw.
And then she had reached his unassuming dorm room, and all illusions of self-control crumbled and shattered. Tenten's arm instantly encased itself in a thick layer of steel, and the mutant's fist came crashing through the enforced metal panels of Alfred's door.
A moment was all it took for her to advance on his stumbling form and wrap her steel-covered fingers around his neck, pushing him hard against the nearest wall.
"Tenten, I can explain."
There were no delusions in this exchange. She knew perfectly well that he was capable of overpowering her at any given moment with his incredible strength. Just like he was completely aware that Tenten was one of the very few people in the school who could deal out enough damage for him to actually feel it beyond his normal resistance. After all, a punch was so much more devastating and brutal when it was wrapped in a thick layer of metal. But Alfred was not the sort to attack a girl, even in self-defense, and especially not when she was a comrade. Not if he could help it. That was the code of honor and heroics he stood by. And Tenten relied on those principles to get her own point across.
"Do you remember when I swore to bash your head in if you ever hurt him?"
"Well, yeah, bu - "
There was a twinge of something in her chest and she felt her fingers squeezing just a bit more around the chords of his throat. There was no real threat of harm coming to him, not unless his brother Matthew was around to nullify his superhuman strength. But still, she had acted out of pure emotion. Without hesitation or remorse. And that was something the young mutant would have to explore and think over at a later date. For now, she simply allowed herself to go with the feeling. "Time to make good on that promise."
"Tenten!"
Whipping her head around towards the voice, Tenten found her eyes settling on the broken remains of the doorway. And the lone figure that was standing in it. She recognized it as Alfred's younger sister, Severine, an empath and the baby of the family as well as the general peacemaker of the entire student body. And at the moment, she stood as Tenten's greatest obstacle. So it was with a swift snap of her arm that the metal shards were throw back into place and bolted shot to bar off the rest of the word from their exchange. Upon closer examination, one would find not a single nick or scratch out of place, not a single notch of difference from before. This was a private affair, after all. And Tenten preferred not to have witnesses.
"You're... getting really good at that."
"Don't change the subject," she snapped, feeling a spark within herself ignite at the force. And for the briefest of seconds, it was as if she were viewing the world with a negative lens. Light was dark and dark was light, and all the colors were switched out like how one would find in developing film. Then, just as quickly as it had been thrown to wrongs, the world was right again. And with a mental shake, Tenten felt the anger surge forth again and allowed it to carry her on. "What did you do?"
His brows furrowed almost instantly. "I didn't do anything!"
A rough tug back and an even harder shove forward brought a resounding crack of the walls echoing through the room. "Then explain to me why Naruto won't leave his room when he's normally always looking for any and all excuses to get out of this damn place?"
He gave a quiet sigh, the furrow of his brows deepening even more as something in his mood seemed to shift. To what, she wasn't exactly sure, but it was enough to take notice, even in her raging state. And it was difficult to not see the defeated way his head bowed. As if he were ashamed of something. "No, that's just it. I didn't do anything."
Still, the young mutant could not help but be wary. People do desperate things while in the midst of danger. And while she would never allow herself to lose complete control to her temperament, mistakes happened in a fit of passion, both good and bad. There was no way that Alfred could know of where her head was. And the same went for him. "...You're gonna have to elaborate on that."
"And you're gonna have to not kill me."
She was reluctant at first, though there was an instance where even Tenten wasn't sure why that was so. And that was her first clue that things had, perhaps, gotten a little out of hand for her. But as prideful and stubborn as she was -- as concerned as she was over what was happening inside of her -- she refused to openly show such weakness, least of all in front of him when there had been a perfectly valid reason for her actions against the young man. And so Tenten had kept her face evened and neutral as she pulled back her hand and took a step away from where she had him pressed up against the wall. "...You've got five minutes."
"I only need one."
"Good," she said, feeling a small ghost of a smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth, "I was only gonna give you three."
Alfred scoffed. "...Touche."
