Looking both ways out of habit, Tenten quickly crossed the empty street towards the dorms. Co-ed building, he had said, which made things a lot easier. Shino's companion was still settling into her new environment and any attempt to move her now was a risk of disrupting her adaptation. And plus, there would be no need to cultivate a believable reason for her presence there. No fabricated lie to get Tenten through the door long enough to find the young man's room.

"Now, I expect you to be on your best behavior."

Feeling her muscles pull and strain the slightest bit against the weight, Tenten brought the front of the carrier up to eye level. It was already beyond dusk and only a few streetlights had managed to turned on at that point. But it had been an easy feat to spot the young kitten's sharp glance inside. Then came a light scratch against the plastic walls as the cat shifted closer to the bars. Followed by the softest of mews in response to her words. Lecture, more like, the woman thought, and sighed thoughtfully at the notion as Itoshii's curious prodding brought thin whiskers close enough to brush against her nose.

"I know what you're thinking, but he's an important friend," Tenten murmured quietly as she made her way across the lawn, "And he's very fond of his spider, so please be nice to her."

It was silly of Tenten, perhaps, to hold a conversation with Itoshii when the kitten could not verbally respond back. Not with anything she could understand, in any case. But the simple act of speaking to another on the matter made the situation less nerve-wracking. Less pressured to be something... neither one was familiar with or fully prepared for. And the rough feel of the kitten's tongue against her cheek was comforting too.

"Oh no, don't try and and sweet-talk your way out of it now, it's too late." Smiling to herself and pausing a moment to indulge in the kitten's sweet attention, the young woman lowered the carrier and continued on her way, stepping through the doors of the dorms without another thought.

The halls were relatively empty and the residences expectantly quiet. Although, it was likely more due to the school game that was being held that night rather than the general disposition of all those who resided in that particular building. And for a brief moment, Tenten had to wonder if Shino had planned it that way. Intelligent and secretive as he was about his privacy, she would not put the idea past his capabilities. All the better for it, the young woman mused while she began ascending the stairs. She was fairly private about many aspects of her life as well. So this would benefit them both.

"Third floor, room number twenty-seven in Dorm C... That's what he said," she mumbled. Easy enough instructions to follow. Or so she assumed. The long hallways and identical doors that greeted her when she pushed out from the stairwell were rather intimidating at first. But with the usual numeric system and the doors clearly marked, it only took a few moments to discern just which direction she would be able to find room twenty-seven.

"If you're extra good, I'll make you some fish when we get home, hm?" she continued, a cheerful note hooking on to the end of the comment, "How's that sound?"

Itoshii mewed in response, bringing a pout almost instantly to Tenten's lips as she gave in and simply sighed. "Fine, I'll stop talking now."

They were coming to a turn in the hall when she heard the familiar gentleness of Shino's voice drift out from nearby. Turning the corner, her eyes quickly zeroed in on the door marked with a bronze/gold colored twenty seven, cracked just slightly. Enough for Tenten to hear the one-sided conversation that was commencing just on the other side.

"...Tenten is a very important friend to me, and she is very fond of Itoshii... as am I," he was saying, "So I would much appreciate you being on your best behavior when they arrive."

Unable to stop the smile from tugging at her lips, the young woman stepped forward and quietly eased the door open just a bit more so that the carrier would fit through as well. All the while, Tenten listened as Shino continued without pause.

"There will be an extra treat of crickets if the night goes well."

Unable to contain herself for much longer, she finally lifted a hand and gently knocked against the opened door. "...Shino?"

It was the relative 'deer-caught-in-the-headlights' look, or rather, one that would be considered such coming from an Aburame. She had only begin to learn the tell-tale signs and read the hidden meanings behind each and every movement his body made. The slight lift of his brows. The minute press of his lips as they thinned out into a straight line. The stiff way his arms hung in the air as the young man turned to face. They all culminated into a form of shock in a fashion.

"Were... you just lecturing the spider?" And at the mention of it, Tenten glanced down to where a tarantula was currently settled comfortably on the young man's forearm, not the least bit jostled by her owner's tense stance. Nor at how he seemed to give a little cough of sorts -- Shino's way of clearing his throat -- when he could not think of an appropriate response. Which, in turn, only added to her amusement.

Giving in to it, she let a small giggle slip out past her lips and continued watching him with a playful tilt of her head. Until his own bemusement broke through the blank exterior of Shino's resolve. It seemed they were a lot more alike than she initially realized.

Still smiling, Tenten brought the carrier up to eye level once more and poked her fingers through the bars to gently scratch behind Itoshii's ear, enjoying the loving purr that soon emanated out in contentment. "I think we're gonna be fine, tonight, don't you?"
