Dedicated to: SasuTen fans. Everywhere.

Sighing, she gingerly stepped out of the steamy bathroom to slowly make her way across the floor towards the bed. All the while, Tenten continued to work at drying the long strands of her hair with the towel. A nice, warm shower had been just what she needed after the unexpected encounter with Sasuke. Tch, he didn't even give me a chance to explain...

Granted, after spending the night with Neji, coming back to his room only to find her and Kabuto in an interesting position was probably not the best way to end an evening. But all the same, Sasuke knew better than to jump to conclusions. Especially where she was concerned. Still...Tenten could not help but be the slightest bit worried. "...I guess I should give him a call and see if Mr. Pissy-pants is still mad."

And with that, she reached over the bed for her phone sitting on the nightstand. Speed dial #2: Uchiha Sasuke.

Annoyed, yes, but that was an understatement. He had specific orders and if they weren't followed it made for a cranky Uchiha. A long shower and a short meditation however, calmed him down.

Until he heard his cell phone go off. Sasuke glared at the vibrating device and picked it up, "Hello?"

"Well...that was a fond greeting if I ever did hear one," she commented sarcastically. But it was, in all honesty, probably the best he could muster under the circumstances. Seating herself on the edge of her bed with a small amount of relief, Tenten flung the towel around her shoulders and continued to dry off the wet locks. "I take it you're still a bit mad then, huh?"

Sasuke rolled his eyes and leaned back against the wall, uncrossing his legs to lay them flat on the plush carpet. "Understatement. I told you to call - you said you would - you didn't. Instead I find you with Kabuto."

Tenten sighed in return, pausing a moment to brush aside a few stray strands of hair out of her eyes. "For good reason if you had just let me explain. But nooooo~ Your immediate reaction was to tell me to leave."

"You were in my bed, with my boyfriend." Sasuke replied, though it really had nothing to do with Kabuto. More because she was in his bed, without him. If she were smart, she would pick up on that.

"Doing absolutely nothing, I might add, something you would have noticed had you not been fuming with rage." Pulling all of her hair over to one side, Tenten cradled her cell between her shoulder and cheek, freeing her hands so that they could squeeze out the last of the water. "He was just checking and patching up some injuries, that's all."

He turned his eyes up to the ceiling and just shook his head, torn between amusement and wanting to roll his eyes again. Sasuke sighed softly and turned his focus on the fan overhead. "I wasn't implying you and he did anything Tenten..."

Here Tenten gave her own, quiet sigh, her tone and voice softening just a fraction. "...Is this about me not not calling you, then?"

He smirked, "Bingo."

"Oh come on, you know me better than that." She frowned and furrowed her brows. In spite of herself and what she had grown knew of the young Uchiha, Tenten could not help but feel hurt, almost disappointed. "I would have if something didn't come up."

"I was worried. I wasn't doubting you. That's not it. I waited for your call and when it didn't come I started to freak." He paused, "Are you okay now...?"

Now it was Tenten's turn to smirk. So he was just...worried about her? "Just a few scratches here and there. Mostly harmless bruises." Not to mention a few nasty cuts and whatnot..., she mentally added. But he did not need to know that. Pushing herself up from the mattress, Tenten quietly padded around the bed to hang the towel back on the rack in the bathroom to dry. "It's gonna have to take more than a plank of wood and some dim-witted goons to take me down."

That called for another smirk and he shifted the phone to the other ear. He listened and arched a brow, "....what are you doing?"

"Just got done taking a shower." And at that, her fingers reached out to grab the thin fabric of her robe from the hook on the door. However, she paused from putting it on just yet. "Why?"

Oh boy. "So....towel, pajamas or....nothing?" He smirked.

That...called for a chuckle. A short one while she pulled her arm through the sleeve of the robe, switching the phone to the other hand and ear so that she could do the same on the other side. "As if the texting wasn't enough for you earlier..."

"It wasn't," He replied honestly, getting up to flop back onto the couch, "Take it off again."

With a soft grunt, Tenten seated herself on the floor and carefully leaned back so that she rested against the bed. "What did I say about confusing me for the hotel escorts?"

"I'm not putting you into the same boat Tenten," Sasuke defended and pushed a hand back into his hair, "I just think you're incredibly sexy and love the fact that you could kick my ass if you wanted to."

"And you take full advantage of the fact that I never would, not unless you really deserved it." In a smooth sweep of her arm, Tenten pulled out her hair from where it was sandwiched between her back and the bed, letting it spread out over the covers. She was...conflicted to say the least. On the one hand, she was flattered and probably a bit flustered at what he was saying. But at the same time... "What are you doing, Sasuke?"

"Physically or mentally?"

"Hm." Hello again smirk. "Nevermind."

"What do you think I'm doing?"

"Asking me silly and semi-perverted questions?"

Sasuke smirked, "What do you want me to be doing?"

Smiling, Tenten pulled up her legs and moved her hand to rest on the soft curve of the knees. "Well that all depends."

"On?" He shifted on the couch, tossing one of the pillows onto the floor to get more comfortable.

"On what kind of mood you're in?" Leaning her head back and to the side in idle thought, she gently pressed her thighs together and let her gaze wander a bit.

"I was just asking you if you were naked. What kind of mood do you think I'm in?" Sasuke chuckled quietly and idly tugged on the tie at the front of his pajama pants.

The corner of her lips tugged up in a soft grin. "Just making sure." It was not often that he released all the stress of the business and simply...acted his age. So seeing this side of him was somewhat of a relief to her. It meant that, maybe, he was not as damaged as the rest of them. "So...do you still want me to answer that question?"

"That should be obvious." Sasuke snorted and pulled the tie undone, flicking the ends of the strings away.

At that, she just shook her head and smiled. Spotting a loose thread in the sheets, she began pulling at it with her fingers to keep them occupied for the moment. "I was toweling off my hair when I called you."

He sighed quietly, relaxing against the couch, eyes sliding shut, "I bet you look good after a shower..."

"Meh, I don't know. Soft muscles, smooth curves, and damp skin?" Here, Tenten shifted her eyes to the side towards the phone, as if the gaze would transfer through the connection itself to reach him. "I guess I might."

The corners of his mouth twitched lightly. "All toned...water following every...single...line from shoulder to hip....to thigh.....Mm. You are I'm sure."

"Really?" Still smiling just the smallest bit, she twirled her fingers around the loose thread. "You sure the milky skin isn't a turn off for you? People are so tan these days."

"I prefer pale," Sasuke replied and plucked at the front of his pants. "You?"

Unconsciously, she shrugged. "Eh, doesn't really matter much to me to tell you the truth. I'm more interested in the eyes anyways." Then, as an amusing afterthought, she added. "And a nice body doesn't hurt either."

"I've got one of those." He said proudly, and smirked, "Not that you would know~. You never see it when I want you to."

"Is it my fault you're always bundled up like a Christmas present every time I see you? You never complained about it before."

"Normally I'm not laying on my couch thinking about you straight from a shower, nor do I usually have a growing hard on because of it." He muttered, "...and I've never stopped you from unwrapping me."

"I wasn't aware that I was allowed to," she quipped, her voice shifting a fraction lower, "But I'm curious now. What exactly would I find?"

"Want me to come over and you can find out?" He smirked, voice a husky whisper.

"Wouldn't that just ruin the illusion we've created already?" No longer interested in the loose thread, Tenten rolled her gaze towards the shadows playing across the ceiling of her suite and shifted the phone to the other ear. "Besides, aren't you already with someone? I don't think he'd be quite so happy to wake up and find you gone."

"It would be fine," He said and gave a long sigh, "You just don't want me to come for you." Double meanings were fun.

At that, she rolled her eyes and slowly closed them, her free hand sliding under her head to act as a sort of cushion. She stifled a small noise at the slight jolt of pain she felt at the junction just above the hip bone so as not to alert him of any discomfort. "On the contrary. I wouldn't still be here if I didn't want you to...come for me."

"....can I come over?"

Slowly, her lids opened at the weight of his words. And with them, her conflicted emotions resurfaced. They had been friends for a long time, probably more than such if this conversation were any indication. But...she simply was not ready for something like that. At least not yet. "Maybe another time..."

Sasuke's smirk faded. He went quiet and then cleared his throat, "...Right...well I'll...let you get to bed then."

Tenten sighed and frowned. She knew that would happen. And yet...there was nothing she could do about it. Her feelings were her feelings after all. There was no forcing them to bend this way or that. Yes, she cared about him. More and more as the days passed in fact. But there was still that fear that still lingered in the back of her mind, the hesitation that she was not ready to overlook just yet. He understood that...right?

Another moment of thought, another instance of awkward silence between them and she found herself uttering the first thought that came to mind. "...You wanna hear a secret?"

Sasuke sat up and leaned against the back of the couch, just listening to her breathing until she finally spoke. He paused and tilted his head back, "What is it?" he asked quietly.

And...then came the blush, something that made her endlessly glad that they were just on the phone instead of in the same room. What had possessed her to say that, Tenten could only guess. But now that it had managed to break free from her lips, there was no choice but to continue on. "Well...yeah, heh. You're gonna probably think I'm weird, but I...I have a...thing for scars..."

How that connected to the current topic, who knows. She only hoped that it would at least break the tension.

His head came forward, brows knit in confusion and amusement. He snorted and smirked, "You...like scars..." For some reason he chuckled absently at that and stood from the couch, going to the entertainment center to flick on the television, "If that were the case, you should have been in love with me by now."

Ah, there was the familiar tone she knew all too well. And in spite of herself, Tenten sighed with a modicum of relief and lifted her head off of the mattress to stare at the far wall. "Well you said it yourself. I'm never around at the right time, so how am I supposed to know if you have them or not?"

"Meet me two floors down in two minutes." He murmured and hung up the phone, smirk in place as he headed for the door and then towards the elevator.

"Wha -- " But the line went dead before she could utter another word. "He's not..." It took a moment, but when things finally clicked Tenten was on her feet in an instant, heading for the door as fast as she could manage while pulling the flaps of her robes closed around her. It might have been the middle of the night, but one could not be too sure about who was roaming the halls of Rising Sun Hotel.

Two dings and he stepped out of the elevator, leaning against the wall until she finally showed up.

Hobbling down the hall in her bare feet, Tenten was in a state of confusion and mild discomfort as she secured the belt of the robe around her hips. "What is this about, Sasuke?"

Sasuke smirked and reached out, taking her arm to pull her into the open elevator. He was still barefoot and only wearing his pajama pants. Once the doors closed he pushed the hold button and turned to her. "I'll show you."

"This couldn't wait for another time...or another place?" she inquired. But Tenten received no answer, only a gentle nudge back into the elevator they had occupied that same morning. She watched the doors close them in like the had done a thousand times before, but felt her heart skip a beat, maybe two, when Sasuke reached to push the stop button. "What is it? What do you have to show me?"

"Lets start with the medical ones..." Sasuke snorted and stepped close to her, he hooked his thumb into the waist of his pants and tugged it dangerously low on one side to reveal a scar, four inches long, half an inch wide, "Appendix burst when I was sixteen."

Tenten let her gaze drop down to follow his hands, shifting around to see the not so pale mark in the dim light of the elevator. Without any real knowledge of it, her hand reached out and hovered over the scar. But she stopped herself from actually touching it, though the better part of her was fighting against common sense.

He noticed and smirked softly before he knelt in front of her and tilted his head forward. He fished around in his hair and pulled some of it away to reveal an inch long scar near the top of his head, "...fell out of the window in my room when I was eight, landed in mothers flowers." He smirked at the memory before standing, "My room was on the second floor...luckily it was just a small rock." He turned his back to her and sighed, "All the little ones are from random fights...knives...nothing exciting."

Now that...was just too much temptation. And so, before she could stop herself, Tenten's fingers were already lightly brushing over the collection of marks and imperfections along his back. He...was warm to the touch compared to the usual chill that her digits held. She had always believed that it came with handling cold metal and steel on a daily basis. A silly notion really. But for some reason, it was all that came to mind while the young woman explored the scars mapped out across his skin.

Sasuke didn't move, and just let her fingers run over his back. They were soft and distracting. He glanced back over his shoulder but remained quiet.

"You know the funny thing about scars?" Her voice was soft and quiet, even against the white noise of silence that echoed gently within the cabin of the elevator. "You think you'll forget about them over time, but...they have ways of reminding you that they're still there."

Sasuke looked forward and nodded, "Yeah...they do." he murmured and reluctantly pulled from her hands, turning to face her again.

She was at a loss for words at first, still watching with a mix of wonder and...perhaps lust at the number of marks that had been scattered along his pale skin. "...Why did you show me that?"

Sasuke smirked softly and gently cupped her cheek, tilting her chin up with his pinky as he leaned in closer, "I wanted to." His eyes scanned over her face slowly and before he wouldn't get the chance he leaned even closer and kissed her.

As a sort of instinctual reaction, her hand came up to lightly circle her fingers around his forearm, his wrists. And even if she wanted to stop the kiss, there had been no time, or at least that was what Tenten would tell herself afterwards. For the moment, nothing else mattered but the light press of his lips...and the soft way she kissed him back in return.

To say he was surprised by the fact she was returning his kiss was an understatement. But welcome. Sasuke's fingers moved back into her hair to gently cradle her against him, kissing her back languidly without being persistent. Now would she flee?

His lips were soft and his touch was gentle, something she had not expected in this line of work. Then again, Sasuke had men (and women) hired to do all of the heavy work. Sure, he held his collection of scars as he had shown her only moments before. But her own were of a different variety. However, none of that mattered in the grand scheme of things. Still running on instinct alone, Tenten grazed the pads of her other hand along the ridges of his rib cage along the side of his body while gently nipping at his lower lip.

Sasuke held the kiss, letting her nip at his lips a moment longer. He reached over and hit the button on the elevator to open the doors and when he finally pulled a breath away he smiled, "Goodnight Tenten."

Half of her had already been expecting that sort of reaction, although it still came as a little bit of a surprise when he pulled away. However, Tenten was good at her job and did well to keep her small level of disappointment in check. Instead, she leaned in for one last kiss, one last taste to perhaps tempt them both, before pulling away.

"Sweet dreams, Sasuke..." she whispered ever so softly and stepped off of the elevator as if nothing had happened. "Thanks for showing me your scars." Halfway back to her room however, she paused and looked back at the doors while they closed, a light smirk pulling at the corner of her lips. "Remind me to show you my mine one day."

Sasuke watched her walk away and he leaned back against the wall while the doors slowly slid closed again. His smirk lingered even after they closed and he started back up to his room, "I will." he murmured to himself as he padded back into his suite.

The moment the doors closed and the elevator began to make it's ascent back up towards Sasuke's penthouse, Tenten pulled out her phone from the pocket of the robe and quickly scrolled through the display menus. Send text, recipient: Uchiha Sasuke: 'another time, promise...'

What she meant by that, Tenten hoped he would know. Regardless, there was a small smile playing across the young woman's face as she shut and locked the door to her suite, quickly climbing into bed to settle on a good night's rest.
