Title: Silent Witness

Notes: This is sort of how I feel on a daily basis. Also written during a time when I was feeling somber about things in my life.

I see all the pain and the tears they cry
I hear the screams as I walk silently by
I feel the scars marking their skin
I stand witness as they struggle to win

I smell the stench of rotting flesh
Polluting the air as it fills my chest
I taste the bitterness of their lives
As they fight and battle to survive

Quietly I walk along this lonely path
Watching in silence for the aftermath
I see all the violence and the fear it wields
Well aware that the scars won't ever heal

I try to speak but cannot find a voice
No matter how I try I can't make a noise
So I'm left to obscerve, muted in fear
As I gaze at the destruction that's so near

While everyone walks blindly through the dark
Constantly seraching for that one spark
To save their lives from the tortured road
Never finding the path that'll lead them home
