"So. Is this what you wanted?"

Setting her jaw, the elder kunoichi lifted her eyes from the viewer for a moment to settle her annoyance before turning to the other. Normally so intelligent and tactful and talented, Tenten found that the other's indecision and uncertainty had started to grate on even her infinite patience. And then there was her frank and snide side comments she felt inclined to mutter into the tense darkness that stood between them.

There was a time and place for blunt truths. She'd given out her fair share of straight talk to both Lee and Gai-sensei in her day. Naruto, certainly, benefited every now and then from them, she was sure. And even Sai and Kakashi-sensei had their moments where a hard shove of icy sensibility was necessary to bring them back from the brink of their idealisms. But now was not one of those times. Sakura was dealing with entirely different creatures than her usual breed.

Needless to say, Tenten felt that the Hokage's apprentice was well out of her element, in this matter. And maybe she required her own dose of reality.

"Don't start with me." Finally turning on the balls of her feet, she fixed the younger kunoichi with a heavy stare that could have been reminiscent of the man she'd spent the better part of a year training and following. Who was to say. It had been a long time since Tenten thought to examine herself and her choices under a microscope. Sasuke wasn't a man with great patience for his subordinates and the kunoichi was not one to over question decisions once they were already made. "I've been in this game a lot longer than you have. My morals are a little bit more stretched, so you'll get no sympathies from me."

"I'm just saying - " the other started to say, but was soon cut off with a quick and challenging step into her personal space.

"Enough." And whether she intended to or not, the rogue weapon specialist took a firm hold of the other's arm, gripping tight and gave a sharp tug to draw in the other's attention just as much as it drew in her body until they were nearly nose to nose.

And almost instantly, she felt resistance as Sakura pulled back against her hold, her chakra almost flaring to life under the pressure. And the Tenten felt almost thrilled at the prospects.

Granted, it was probably a poor judgment call on her part, standing up against a kunoichi who could level mountains and crush the earth beneath their feet with a mere punch of her fist. It was no secret that her training with Tsunade had been more than beneficial in adding to the medic's skill-set. But part of Tenten almost looked forward to the possibility, all the same. Even if she lost, the opportunity to at least try to knock some sense into the other was more than worth it.

But it would get them nowhere, fast. So it was with a calming breath and a forced sigh that she let the challenge subside, addressing the other in a more controlled tone.

"Every argument you wanna make, I've already had with myself. And I've decided to live with the consequences, good or bad." Here, she loosened her hold on the other's wrist, the other pulling away almost instantly with a harsh yank of her arm. "So if you're looking for a way out or someone to hold your hand while you make your escape from this, look elsewhere. You won't find it here."

And with that, she turned and stalked back to the viewer to resume watching the events as they unfolded on the battlefield, wanting and wishing - always wishing - that she could be there to fight along side them as well. But Tenten had chosen her side and thrown her lot with the likes of the Uchiha and what remained of the Akatsuki regime. And Sasuke had other plans in mind; a strict schedule to keep.

But just before she could make to dismiss the young medic, Sakura decided to speak out and voice the thoughts that, perhaps, everyone was wondering. "...What happened to you, Tenten?"

"...A lot." And even to her, the voice seemed hollow and weighted.

Keeping her expression even and calm, the elder kunoichi slide her glance coolly to meet the other's gaze. And with it went a whole slew of thoughts and emotions hidden underneath the surface. But whether the Fifth's apprentice had traveled far down the path with them enough to read the unspoken words was left to be determined. "I'll tell you about it, one day."
