"She knew."

Quietly stepping out from the forest, she walked to the water's edge and stood there waiting for a response -- A movement or a twitch -- Any indication that he had heard her from his perch. All the while, Mei did her best to mask the awe and wonder at the reminder that Shirou had, indeed, once been a shinobi of Uzu as well. Because in all the years that the kunoichi had lived in Konoha -- in all the years that she had been seeking peace and solitude at this particular lake located just on the outskirts of the village's limits -- there had never been any sort of rock formation protruding out of the water. Least of all the small crop of rocks that he was peacefully meditating on now.

"She knew, didn't she?" the kunoichi pressed, "What Minato was planning and developing all along."

The exhale he gave was notably heavier than the previous others. "...Yes."

"That's why she tried to teach me that jutsu here."

Crossing her arms, the kunoichi watched and waited for a response. All the while her own thoughts continued to swirl and waver like the tides of the ocean shore. It was a matter that had been on Mei's mind for sometime, particularly after hearing the specific instructions Kushina had given in the likelihood of her death. But it was only when she noticed Shirou's trips out and away from the shop were happening more frequently that she began to truly suspect something.

"It's a technique specific to Whirlpool because of the environment surrounding the village," came his calm and even response, "That's why it's hard to master."

It should have made sense, what he said. And in some small way that only Kushina could devise, it did. But still, Mei could not bring herself to trust in it despite all that she knew of her red tempest of a friend. And it was when those thoughts spreading and cultivating through her mind that Shirou finally made to come out of his meditative state. One eye peaked open, and the other soon followed after when it became apparent that she was nothing less than harmless and calm. And then with a seemingly effortless leap, he joined her on the shores of the lake to continue the conversation. To clarify on his explanation.

"She... knew Minato was gonna die... and planned on dying with him."

Her brows pinched together at a line he had mentioned. "Specific to Uzu?"

"...You'll see."
