Disclaimer: I own nothing but these words.
Note: Short drabble meant to be part of a series started when my internet was out. Ironic, huh~? ;D Theme borrowed from
ficlets100.
Dedicated to: Inuzuka Tsume 83
Strong-willed. Talented. And crazy enough to do nearly whatever it took to get a mission done. All traits she shared with a certain red-haired former shinobi of Uzu that they all knew. But where as Kushina tended to act with a little bit more thought, she was a lot more reckless in her actions. And it was her seemingly endless motivation and drive that made Inuzuka Tsume a frightening woman to oppose.
"You...want us to do what?" And despite the horror-stricken expression on her face, Mei was more skeptic and curious than appalled. Because as many years as the two of them had been friends, this had not been the first time someone had suggested such a thing. At the same time, the both of them had never expected it to come from Tsume.
"To go on a date," she replied, her usual wolfish grin firmly fixed in place. And after a moment of silence from both parties involved, the Inuzuka added with a huff, "It's just one. No more. No less."
For a moment, both Mei and Minato just stood there in perfect silence as the words rolled over them once more. No. It had not been a figment of their collective imagination after all. And it was with that realization that the two exchanged glances that told of their wariness concerning the idea. Certainly, no good could come of this.
"You're...kidding, right?" Minato reasoned, "Come on, Tsume, quit foolin' around."
"Nope. No joke."
"What?" Mei interjected in disbelief, "You can't ask this of us."
At that, the calm grin on Tsume's face slowly morphed into the wolfish grin they knew all too well. And it was then that Mei knew they were fighting a losing battle. "...Who said I was asking?"
And it took everything within Mei not to take a cautious step back in order to escape from the other's intentions. However, in the end, it would have only delayed the inevitable. So it was with a sigh of defeat that they finally muttered a quiet "fine," giving this victory to her. Yes, Tsume was a frighteningly determined woman when her mind was set on something. And both Mei and Minato knew that it was better to give in than to oppose her.
